JEANS MONTH - HUGE SUCCESS!!!!!

We would like to share that our Jeans Month was a HUGE success!!! Trystan and Alyssa were able to raise $11,300 for St. Louis Children's Hospital 9th Floor Hematology/Oncology Unit.

Businesses had "clever" ways to participate in Jeans Month. We would like to share those with you:

-The Bond County Sheriff's Department allowed their deputies to pay to grow facial hair and their dispatchers to wear jeans.
-St. Mary's School, in Edwardsville, extended not only to their staff but to their students, who wear uniforms every day, to pay to wear their jeans on Fridays during the month of February!
-West Springs Church in Missouri dedicated a Jeans Sunday and all the members of the church paid $1 to wear their jeans to church that Sunday.
-Watson's Drug Store made buttons that said, "Ask Me Why I'm Wearing Jeans"
-McCracken, Dawdy, Hall Family Practice made stickers to explain why they were wearing jeans.
-Pickerill's Pick'n "N" Grinn'n hosted a fundraiser at their restaurant for an entire Saturday.

Those businesses that allowed their employees to pay to wear their jeans, varied in the way they participated. Some allowed their employees to wear jeans for the entire month! While others did once a week, every Friday, twice a week for the month, etc. Any way you look at it, the businesses of our community and surrounding communities came together to help "give back"!

We also had businesses and factories that are already allowed to wear jeans to work take up a collection just to help "give back."

We had more than three dozen businesses either participate or collecto donations:

Our family was overwhelmed with the response to Jeans Month. In the beginning we were hoping to raise $500-$1,000. That goal was met before February 1st. Our girls then set a goal of $5,000 and that was surpassed! Lastly, they set a goal of $10,000 which was met at the very end of March. But the calls and checks kept coming through the second week of March. Our family would like to thank the businesses who participated and gave donations! We would also like to thank the many inidividual donations we received from those who just wanted to give.

My husband and I took the girls down to St. Louis Children's Hospital March 21, 2010 to present the donations to the hospital. Upon arrival the hospital had printed a "HUGE" check to present. The girls presented the check to Dr. Wilson, Dr. Ziga, and Nurse Practitioner Karen from the 9th Floor.

Thank you all for everything,

The Watson Family :)

December 27-31, 2010

Monday-This morning I picked up around the house. Early this afternoon, the girls and I ran into town to pick up Lillie's birthday gift and to take Mom's folding chairs back. At about 5:00 p.m. I picked up Trystan's friend, Molly and dropped Alyssa off at her friend Lillie's. After dropping Alyssa off, the girls and I ran to Highland to pick up Pizza Hut Pizza. That's what they wanted. We came home and the girls had a picnic on the floor and watched a movie. They played the rest of the evening until they went to bed.

Tuesday-Trystan and her friend woke up this morning and played until I had breakfast made. After breakfast they changed out of their pjs and played some more. At around 10:30 a.m. we left the house to pick up both Alyssa and Shelbi from the sleepover. I then ran Molly home. I took the three girls to eat a t Subway and came back to the house. The three played hide-and-seek and made their own band with Trystan's purple guitar, purple drumset, and kareoke machine. Quite commical!!! Crystal came after she was off work to pick up Shelbi. We relaxed the rest of the evening.

Wednesday-I spent the entire day cleaning and doing laundry. It was a very productive day. Trystan and Alyssa spent the entire day in their pjs playing. I love that they get along so well!

Thursday-This morning I got up and got ready first thing. I had decided to take the girls to Justice. We had to take a pair of Trystan's pants back for a different size. While we were there the girls used their gift cards and money. It's nice to be able to take them shopping and not have to spend a dime!!! :) After Justice we stopped by Border's Books but Alyssa didn't find anything she wanted to use her gift cards for so we left. The next stop was Toys R Us. The girls had gift cards yet from Friends of Kids with Cancer that they hadn't used up. Alyssa chose a game and Trystan a puppy dog doctor set. They also agreed on two Wii games. That was the last store we stopped at and were on our way home. Alyssa talked me into stopping at Culver's in Collinsville. Thankfully I had two free kid's scoop coupons! Another "cheap" stop. When we got home, the family played the game Alyssa got and also played on the Wii.

Friday-Relaxed today. This evening we went to Jeff and Katie's house to bring in the new year. Last year we couldn't do much of anything because Trystan's counts were so low. Amazing how much has changed this year! Thank you God!! We all couldn't believe that the kids were able to play and stay up until midnight. We got home and were in bed a little before 1 a.m. We all had a great time with friends!

December 25-26, 2010

Saturday-Merry Christmas!!! This morning the kids opened their gifts from Santa and from each other. Tracy and I opened our gifts from each other and the girls. It is amazing to look back at last year's Christmas and this year and see what a difference a year can make! We thank God everyday for the blessings He has given us. This evening was the Rieke Christmas at the Masonic Temple in Highland. We arrived right at 5:00 and right away noticed that Great-Grandma still didn't look well. The evening started off with dinner. Just after everyone was finished eating Great-Grandma started showing signs she was having a stroke. The right side of her face began to droop and she was confused. We call 911 and had an ambulance come out. She refused to go with them and decided to go home. After dad took her home and returned, we opened gifts. It just wasn't the same without Great-Grandma there. We finished the evening with dessert and came home.

Sunday-Went to church this morning as a family. Alyssa did special music with Trenton and they both did a GREAT job! It amazes me how good she plays! Especially since she has only been playing for three and a half months. Came home from church and spent the in. Later in the afternoon, Carrie, Kortnie, and Derrick came over and we played Apples to Apples and the Wii. It was a really fun evening!

December 20-24, 2010

Monday-The girls are excited to only have a three day school week this week! I think we are all looking forward to the Christmas break and sleeping in!

Tuesday-Trystan woke up this morning with a terrible cough. While getting ready for school she choked on some phlem and spit up a little. I went ahead and sent her to school because she told me she didn't have an upset stomach and I checked for fever and there wasn't one. She made it through the whole day without incident. This evening she began sneezing a lot and the nose began running. Praying she's able to kick this cold without it leading to something else since her immune system isn't quite normal yet.

Wednesday-Today was the last day of school before the Christmas break. You could see the excitement in all of the kids faces as they were dropped off at school this morning. I brought in an ornament craft for Trystan's class to do. Each ornament had a picture of each child in it. I think the kiddos had a pretty good time doing those. When I finished with the kids' craft I left the school and was on my way to Highland to purchase Tracy's Christmas gift then back to Greenville to pick up the girls from school.

Thursday-Today the girls and I started the morning with baking for Christmas. We made Mississippi Mud dessert, chocolate chip cookies, birthday cake for Jesus, and fudge brownies. I then cleaned the entire house all three stories and did the laundry! From the basement all the way to the second floor. The house is now ready for Christmas Even dinner! So excited!!!

Friday-Relaxed this morning and then started the ham for this evening. It started snowing this morning. We are all so excited to have a white christmas!! Everyone started coming about 4:30. We were ready to eat before 5:30 and gifts were opened and being played with by 7:30. Desserts were had after that. Another blessed Christmas with the Watson side family!

December 18-19, 2010

Saturday-This evening my mom was going to come by and take the girls to see the lights at the Shrine in Belleville while Tracy and I get out and get some shopping and together time. But, my grandma wasn't feeling well so we all felt it more important that she go and be with her. My mom ended up taking grandma to the emergency room because she thought grandma was showing signs of a stroke. The hospital didn't think it was necessary to keep grandma in the hospital. She is to see her primary care doctor next week. Thankfully, my sister came to the rescue and came over and watched the kids so that we were still able to get some shopping done. Thank you Carrie!!!

Sunday-All of us went to church today. Both of the girls did special music along with the rest of the Children's Church group. They sang and played the bells. AWESOME JOB!!! After church was over we came home. Our friend Jeff, along with his daughter, came over to look at some things with Tracy. While the guys were outside, the three girls played together inside. They finished just in time for the girls and I to leave and go to AWANAs. Happy Birthday Jesus was the theme tonight. A grand birthday party for Jesus. The kids got to use their AWANA shares(points earned) to "buy" items from the AWANA store. They also had story/bible time and then the grand party for Jesus. All of the kids sang happy birthday to Jesus, had cupcakes and candy, played games, and did crafts. I really think the girls had a good time!

December 13-17, 2010

Monday-SNOW DAY!!! Started the morning by making cinamon rolls. Later this morning the girls and I made brownies, snickerdoodles, and triple berry muffins. This afternoon, I took the girls outside to play in what little snow we had. They had a great time! And boy was it COLD out there. When we came inside, I made the girls some hot chocolate to help them warm up beside the fireplace. For dinner I made a couple of homemade pizzas. Which were yummy if I must say so myself! Ended the day by relaxing together in the livingroom with the blaring fireplace. Gotta love snow days like this!

Tuesday-Back to school today! The girls were happy to return.

Wednesday-Trystan is still having some difficulty reading, but she seems to be doing a little better all the time. That's a big answer to prayers. Praying that she continues to "grow" in that aspect. Trystan still seems to be doing very well with math. There was some icing that started this evening. We'll have to wait and see if there will be school in the morning.

Thursday-Last night's weather caused icy glazed roads and that school was cancelled for today. I had two unhappy girls. But the day went smoothly anyway.

Friday-Roads are still bad so school was closed again today. Alyssa and Trystan were so unhappy that they were not able to go again. I guess I understand beings that it's extremely slick, so no playing outside. :( This afternoon the girls and I ran to Wal-Mart to get some grocery shopping done. The roads for the most part had been cleared by the time we left.

Saturday, December 11, 2010

December 11-12, 2010

Saturday-The weather was pretty crappy today. Nothing like a bad thunderstorm in December! Spent the day inside cleaning. I love a freshly cleaned house! It smells so good. We had two birthday parties to go to today. But, only made it to one. :( Justin's party was fun! He had his party at Greenville Bowling Alley. The girls got to bowl again today. Two weeks in a row! They had so much fun. They each bowled a game and both scored 82!

Sunday-This morning we went to church and should have probably stayed home! It was snowing, but that wasn't the problem. The wind was blowing so hard that the visibility at times was almost zero! We made it to and from church safely. Decided to make the treturous trip back to church this evening for the choir's Christmas Cantada. Back and forth safe and sound. Also got a call from the school on the way home from church this evening cancelling school for tomorrow. Girls weren't excited to find out that there wasn't school. They both enjoy going to school.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

December 6-10, 2010

Monday-Back for another full week of school. Trystan had her last practice after school today. The program is tomorrow night. When I picked her up from practice she showed me that she had lost a tooth at school today and was really excited about it!

Tuesday-This evening was Trystan's Christmas Program and she did a fabulous job! She was an elf in the program. Not only was she dressed for the part, but she acted the part too. Trystan showed her true self of stage throughout the entire program. We think that she is a true actress!!!

Wednesday-We were glad to have nothing to do this evening. Just stayed home once we were home from picking the girls up from school.

Thursday-Today was a fiel trip to Danikan's Tree Farm for Trystan and her class. Last year when she went on this field trip she had to wear a mask because her counts were so low. What a difference a year can make! God is so good!! This evening Alyssa had dance. While she was at dance, Trystan and I did errands. Then came home for the evening.

Friday-We are all glad that its Friday and looking forward to the weekend!

December 4-5, 2010

Saturday-Today we went to Highland to pick up our family pictures. After picking those up we went to a fundraiser at Poplar Junction to participate in the Klenke Bowl. Trystan hasn't bowled in over two years. She wasn't able to do it all on her own, but I think she still had a great time. Alyssa had a wonderful time too! Trystan and Alyssa both got certificates as well. Trystan's certificate was for bravery and Alyssa's was for being a super sibling. We are so proud of our kids! Trystan also was chosen to pick the winning ticket for an iPad that was being given away. After finishing at the bowling alley, we went to pick up the deer meat that was finished being processed. Thankfully when we got home that was where we stayed and got to relax.

Sunday-While Tracy hunted today, the girls and I started our day by going to church. After church we went and picked up Grandma Rieke. The four of us then went Christmas shopping. The girls were very well behaved for me. Thank goodness! I got a lot more Christmas gifts bought. We came home and ate dinner. After dinner, I decided to take the girls to the movie theater here in Greenville. They had been wanting to see the movie Tangled. I must admit I wanted to see it as well. We were not disappointed either. It was a great movie! We came straight home after the movie and the girls went right to bed. Another wonderful weekend!!!

November 29-30 & December 1-3, 2010

Monday-Back to the grind today for the girls. After school Trystan had practice for the Christmas program until 3:45. In a little more than a week is the Christmas program. Hoping that things go well and the girls stay healthy!

Tuesday-No practice this evening after school for Trystan, but she will have practice the rest of the week after school.

Wednesday thru Friday-The rest of the week went without incident.

November 27-28, 2010

This weekend Tracy got the Christmas decorations down for us to start decorating the house. He put up the lights outside on Saturday. Sunday we did go to Sunday School and church, but got the night off from AWANAs for Thanksgiving. The girls were not happy knowing that their long weekend was quickly coming to an end and that they would have to return to school on Monday.

November 22-26, 2010

Monday-The girls got up and knew that it was going to be a short week for them, due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Tuesday-Nothing differnt to report today.

Wednesday-Took the girls to school this morning. Tracy and I had to pick Trystan up at 12:30 to take her to see Dr. McDonald for her six week check. Alyssa stayed at school and Grandma picked her up for us. Dr. McDonald stated that there was still a crack in the bone but it seemed to be thickening. He stated that she should continue 50% weight bearing on her right leg. It wasn't excatly what we were expecting to hear, but it wasn't bad news. We are to go back and see him in another six weeks.

Thursday-Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for this year! We started the day by going to Teri's house for lunch on the Watson side. And ended the evening at Buddy's for dinner on the Rieke side. Tracy and Trystan stayed home while Alyssa and I went to my brother's house. Thank you God for the work you have done in our family!

Friday-I got up early to go Black Friday shopping with my mom. We both got quite a bit of shopping done! Let the Christmas season begin!!!

Sunday, November 21, 2010

November 20-21, 2010

Saturday - While Tracy was hunting today the girls and I headed to Edwardsville to find the girls new winter coats, Christmas outfits, and an elf outfit for Trystan. We hit Target, Kohl's, and Michael's. We found the Christmas outfits and coats at Kohl's and a Santa/Elf hat at Michael's. It wasn't exactly the "elf" hat I was looking for but it's gonna have to do if I can't find anything else! Then, this evening, my mom came over to watch the girls so Tracy and I could go out for a couple of hours. We stopped by Dave Moore's benefit and then went for dinner at a local sit-down restaurant.

Sunday - Today while Tracy was out hunting, the girls and I headed to Sunday School and church. We came home afterwards and ate lunch. Then later went to AWANAs!

November 15-19, 2010

Monday - It was back to a regular routine today. I thank you Lord for a "regular routine!" Alyssa really seems to be enjoying dance this year.

Tuesday - We were on our way to school this morning when Alyssa realized that she didn't have her instrument. She ran back inside the house but couldn't find it. We didn't have a whole lot of time to look for it. So after dropping the girls off at school I came home and located it. Later took it back into her.

Wednesday - Trystan was so excited to tell me after school that she needed to stay because she got a part in the Christmas program! We were very excited for her. One week from today, Trystan will have her six week appointment to see Dr. McDonald. Maybe she'll be walking without her walker for the Christmas program!

Thursday - The girls only had a half day of school today! They were excited about that and that they don't have school tomorrow either!

Friday - Opening day of shotgun season is today. Tracy was up bright and early to go out behind the house and hunt. I am so happy that he is seeing something this year! He had to let a few walk and others he couldn't get a shot off because they wouldn't come close enough. But hey! He's seeing something right?!

November 13-14, 2010

Saturday - We had a relaxing Saturday. I cleaned house and did laundry. But other than that had a wonderful day!

Sunday - Started off the morning by going to church. Came home after church for lunch and headed back for AWANAs this evening for "Backwards Night." The girls and I wore our shirts and their uniforms backwards! Great time!

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

November 9-, 2010

Tuesday - Trystan was back to school today. This evening was the Academic Foundation were the 2nd graders perform. Trystan did a wonderful job with her reading part and Alyssa did a fabulous job with the sound system. We are so super proud of our kiddos!

Wednesday - Nothing much to report today. The girls are excited to have the day off of school tomorrow due to Veteran's Day. If the weather is nice, we plan to take a trip to the zoo.

Thursday - No School Today! I took the girls to the zoo. It wasn't crowded at all. I couldn't believe it. Later we found out that Missouri had school. That would be a good reason for it not to be crowded. We saw a lot of animals, had a picnic lunch, and stopped by Culvers on the way home for an ice cream. We got home in enough time for Alyssa to change her clothes into her dance outfit. We had a wonderful day!

Friday - The girls were back in school today. I think we are all ready for the weekend!

November 8, 2010

Hard to believe that it has been three months since Trystan had her last scans. Today was the day that we had to take her to Children's Hospital in St. Louis. We had to drop of Alyssa at school first we were then on our way. We arrived at the hoslpital about 9:15 a.m. and had to first go in to the lab for bloodwork. (The worst first!) Surprisingly enough she did pretty well! We then proceeded to radiology. After getting her registered we were then called back for her CT scan. Tracy went in with her there, while I waited in the hall. After the CT scan we had to wait a little longer in the waiting room for her x-rays. We requested the x-rays because she has been complaining off and on that her upper right arm is hurting. We then headed up to the clinic on the 9th floor for her doctor's appointment with Dr. Wilson. We were given the bloodwork results first. They were all in the normal range. Then we were given the results of CT scan which were clear as well! Lastly we were told that her x-rays of her arm looked normal. Thank goodness! Praise the Lord for this great news of nine months cancer free! Next scans are scheduled for February 21, 2010. If the scans are clear in February she will be cancer free for one year.

Sunday, November 7, 2010

November 6-7, 2010

Saturday - Today was a great day! We had a wedding to go to at our church. After the ceramony, we were on our way to the reception in Collinsville when I read on Facebook that Trystan's penpal Jazmine, from Europe passed away. The girls did fairly well with the news at first. We have been trying to prepare them for this day. The reception was great! The food was really good too. While waiting for the food, Trystan finally broke down about her friend Jazmine. But, soon was better because the music started and the dancing began. Both the girls danced their hearts out! I even held Trystan so she could line dance. We finally made it home about 11:00 only to find out that I had left my purse at the reception! Thankfully, it was still where I had left it and the bride's parents brought it home with them.

Sunday - We went to church this morning. I aslo got my purse back when we arrived at church. Thank goodness! After church we came home and had lunch. Then this evening we made our way to AWANAs.

Thursday, November 4, 2010

November 1-5, 2010

Monday - It was back to school today for the girls after an exciting Halloween weekend!

Tuesday - Lots of studying for Trystan and her spelling pre-test tomorrow. The words are getting more difficult for her every week. She does seem to be reading a little better and the math is really coming along.

Wednesday - I was really nervous when I dropped the girls off at school today. Trystan had her spelling pre-test today. I really didn't think she would do very well on it. But to my surprise, when she got in the car, she told me that she got a 100% on the pre-test. I had her show it to me so I could see the proof. WOW! She proved me wrong. I am super proud of her. She continues to amaze me everyday. Also, one year ago this evening, the Lord called John home. Tracy and I decided to invite Doris over for dinner so she wouldn't have to be alone. It was a pretty good dinner. I made a fresh salad, baked pork chops, twice baked potatoes, sweet corn, and a brownie sundae dessert. Though we miss John deeply, we have the faith in knowing that he is with Jesus and we WILL see him again!

Thursday - Nothing much to report today.

Friday - Trystan had practice with Mrs. Lugge after school today. We all then went to Arthur Young, Inc. 50th Anniversary. They served a dinner and had cake. It was nice. After we finished there we all came home for the evening.

October 30-31, 2010

Saturday - The girls played all afternoon together and were excited to hear when it was time to change their clothes into their Halloween costumes. Trick-or-treating for Greenville was tonight. Tracy and I only planned on taking them to a few places of people we know in town. The girls went to Mrs. Walker's, Mr. Stoecklin's, and at the time we thought it was Mrs. Westbrooke's houses. When we walked up to the door and saw that it wasn't Mrs. Westbrooke's house they were ok with it because the girl really like the girls' costumes and gave them extra candy! We also tried to go to Mrs. Wilhite's house only to see that she wasn't home. :( Then it was time for supper and we stopped at Kahuna's. They gave the girls a small cone for coming in in their costumes. We called it a night and headed home.

Sunday - Started off the day by going to church. Didn't quite make it to Sunday school though. Came straight home after church for a few hours before taking the girls by both Grandma's houses so they could see them in their costumes. After that, we went to Casey and Cathy Adolph's so that the kids could ride on a "hayride" around their subdivision to trick-or-treat. They got so much candy! Holy Cow!! We finally finished trick-or-treating a little after 8:00 and still hadn't eaten supper. Went through McD's and ate that on the way home. Got home in just enough time to put the girls to bed for school tomorrow.

Monday, October 25, 2010

October 25-29, 2010

Monday - Well it was back to the grind today. The girls were back to school. Then this evening Alyssa had dance.

Tuesday - Nothing much to report today! Gotta love these "boring" days!

Wednesday - Today Trystan had a field trip to see the St. Louis Symphony. I was a little disappointed to find out that she and I had to ride a completely separate bus from the rest of the kids. Then when we arrived we had to sit in a completely separate section than the rest of the 2nd graders. She was very upset when we got there and saw that she couldn't sit up with the rest of the children. But, Molly and Cadence decided to come down where we were and sit with Trystan and I so she wouldn't be by herself. What thoughtful little girls they are! On the way back from the symphony they stopped at Troy McDonald's for lunch and then arrived back at the school about 2:20. Just enough time to end the day. :) Despite the little bit of segragation, we ended up having a very good day!

Thursday - Tracy and I went to parent-teacher conferences for both girls this evening. Got good reports on both of them. Trystan is slowly getting better at reading and math. Alyssa is doing beautifully in every way, shape and form! So thankful God has given us beautiful, well-behaved, and intelligent girls.

Friday - So glad it is friday! Bring on the weekend!!

October 23-24, 2010

Saturday - Woke up this morning and had breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, we were back on the road heading to Nashville, TN. We got to the hotel about 2:15 p.m. only to find out that our room wasn't ready yet. Check in wasn't to be until 3:00. 3:00 came and went and still our room wasn't ready. Finally about quarter after four our room was ready. Just enough time for us to prepare to get dressed and eat before heading to the Grand Ole Opry. The show at the Opry was great! It was my first time going and Tracy's second. Trace Adkins and Blake Shelton performed and Blake Shelton was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. It was all very impressive and a great time! The girls also said they had a great time with Grandma Watson. She took them to Mills and around and about today.

Sunday - We were back on the road coming home this morning. We each couldn't wait to see the girls. The girls went to church with Grandma Watson and were then picked up by Grandma and Grandpa Rieke. They took the girls to the Great Godfrey Corn Maze. They had a fabulous time. We were all very tired and decided to stay home and not go to AWANAs this evening.

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

October 18-22, 2010

Monday - Dropped the kids off at school this morning. I then did my shopping at both CVS and IGA. Came home and put all of the groceries away, ate lunch, and cleaned house. I went into town about an hour earlier than usual to volunteer. Then brought the girls home to do homework and then back into town to take Alyssa to dance.

Tuesday - Nothing much to report today.

Wednesday - We picked up the girls early today because we had to drive to Chicago for Tracy's Uncle Graham's funeral. We arrived at the hotel about 6:30, enough time to change and head over to the wake at the funeral home. After the wake we went to Portellio's for a nightime snack, then back over to the hotel to go to bed.

Thursday - This morning we woke up and went to the funeral. Tracy was asked to be a paubearer. After they finished at the cemetary we went for lunch with the rest of the Watson family. Once we finished lunch, we were back on the road coming home. We finally arrived home about 8 p.m. Enough time to get the girls their shower/bath, finish homework, and get to bed.

Friday - This evening the girls went to stay with Grandma Watson while Tracy took me on a trip for our anniversary. A long needed time away together, just the two of us. Tracy planned the entire trip. We arrived in Paduka, Kentucky about 8:30 or so. Stopped there to rest our heads for the evening.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACY! We love you so much!!

Today was a beautiful day! We relaxed for the first half of the day. Then this afternoon we went to Tyler's football game, came home, and Tracy and the girls played the Wii for quite some time. This evening we went to Teri and Brad's for a bonfire.

Sunday, October 17, 2010

This morning we went to church. Came home after church, ate lunch, and relaxed. AWANAs was this evening. The girls love having AWANAs on Sunday night!

Happy Birthday Carrie!!!

October 11-15, 2010

Monday - No school today. Today we tood Trystan for another six week checkup with Dr. McDonald. Did x-rays to check the bone. Good news! Looks as if the hairline fracture has healed and the bone is continuing to grow. The doctor has released Trystan to 50% weight bearing on her right leg. She will still have to use the walker, but was so excited to hear the news. We are praising the Lord for the small steps. As soon as we returned home from the doctor's appointment, Alyssa changed her clothes and we headed into town for dance.

Tuesday - Trystan did some walking with the aid of her walker today at school! :D

Wednesday - Today Alyssa came home from school saying that she saw Trystan using her walker and walking out to the playground for recess and how proud she was of her. Don't think Alyssa will ever know how proud we are of her!

Thursday - Volunteered at the school today and went to eat lunch with my cousins Crystal and Beth. This evening Alyssa had dance. Trystan and I had to go to the grade school for a meeting while she was at dance. We then picked her up and came home for the evening.

Friday - This evening Tracy, myself, and the girls took my sister out to dinner for her 40th birthday. Had a very nice time together.

October 9-10, 2010

Saturday - Today we went to the last 5th grade Jr. Comet football game to watch Justin play. Boy it was hot out! After the game we came home and the girls played a little. This evening we went to a bonfire at Tim and Lori's house. The girls played with Cade, Josie, and Russel. We all had a really good time. Saw some people we haven't seen in quite a while and others we see frequently. Loved it!!

Sunday - We didn't get up in enough to make it to Sunday School. But, we did make it to church. After church we came home and ate lunch. Soon after finishing lunch, the girls and I went to Eckert's. We got there and it was crazy busy!! We thankfully found a hadicap spot to park in. Went and got in line for the wagon ride out to the orchard and patch. Rode the wagon out to the apple orchard. It was difficult pushing the wheelchair through the orchard, but we managed. The girls were able to pick apples and have a great time. We got back onto the wagon and the tractor took us to the pumpkin patch. Got off the wagon and were able to easily push Trystan and her chair through the patch. The girls each found a pumpkin. Then, we got back onto the wagon and they took us back. There we paid for our apples and pumpkins. The girls were pretty hot and tired and were ready to go. We got back into the car, stopped for a bite to eat and headed to AWANAs. At AWANAs Trystan's lesson was on creation. One of the messages tonight was that God doesn't make mistakes. This message reinforced what we had told Trystan about her cancer. God didn't make a mistake when he gave her a cancerous tumor in her leg. Thank you Lord for the many blessings you give us everyday.

October 4-8, 2010

Monday was another normal day at school. That evening Alyssa had dance and Trystan and I ran errands.

Tuesday evening was McTeacher night. Of course we went to support GES!

Wednesday, the girls went to school and got to stay home that evening. :D

Thursday night Alyssa had dance. While she was at dance Trystan and I went to Derrick's football game. I left Trystan at the game with my mom and Aunt Carrie so I could go back to pick up Alyssa. She wanted to go to the game as well. Way to go Freshman Football Team! Great win against Roxana!!!

Friday the girls didn't have school. Cade came over and played for a while with the girls. They are so excited to be having a four day weekend!!! Friday evening Tracy's mom took us out for Tracy's birthday. Good food and good times with loved ones.

October 2-3, 2010

Saturday afternoon we had family pictures done of the entire Watson side. Alyssa did beautifully. Trystan had a rough start. She was upset becuase it was cold and she had to sit on the ground. By the end of pictures she was having a great time and didn't want it to end! Go figure!!! After pictures we all went to Grandma Watson's for dinner.

Sunday was another great day. We went to Sunday School and church. Came home after service for lunch. That evening I took the girls to AWANAs. The theme was to wear your favorite sports attire. The girls and I all went in our Greenville Comet Football shirts. So glad they are doing theme nights now. The girls have always loved AWANAs but they are even more excited now!

September 27 - October 1, 2010

Monday 9/27 - Tracy is still very sick today. He did however get an antibiotic and prescription strength pills for his terrible cough. The girls had a good day at school today and this evening Alyssa had dance. Trystan and I ran to the grocery store while she was there.

Tuesday 9/28 - This evening we went to NASA family night. Trystan wanted to do the scavanger hunt. She did pretty well with it too! Alyssa ran around with friends and showed up at the end to help us get the ones we were having difficulty with. They had a great time!

Wednesday 9/29 - Trystan got a 100% on her spelling test! She has to study hard, but seems to be doing a little better all the time. :)

Thursday 9/30 - This evening Alyssa had dance. Trystan does her studying in the car while sissy is at dance. I had told her that if she didn't complain and got the rest of her homework done well before Alyssa was finished dancing, I would take her to rent a couple of movies. Lo and behold, no problems! We had enough time after she finished her homework to go to the movie rental store, wash the car, and get gas before Alyssa was finished!

Friday 10/1 - Grandma Rieke took Alyssa to the Cardinal game this evening. Trystan was a little upset because sissy was going to have a ballpark hot dog and she wasn't. :( Tracy and I let Trystan choose where she wanted to eat dinner this evening. Of all places she wanted Burger King! So we drove to Vandalia and ate at Burger King. After dinner, she wanted to go to Wal-Mart to "look around." This is her version of window shopping. She almost had daddy talked in to getting her an I-pod! Almost... I was able to get a couple of things that we needed though so it wasn't a worthless trip. :) We then came home and Trystan and I played the Wii.

It's been a GREAT week!!!

September 25-26, 2010

Saturday we spent the day at home. But that evening the girls and I went to Nancy (Gause) Zobrist wedding reception. Tracy was still sick so he had to stay home. We had a wonderful time. Dinner was good and then the DJ started. The girls had so much fun dancing and playing. Trystan made it work with her and her walker. She never ceases to amaze me! Of couse she wanted to do the line dances as well. So I held her and we did the electric slide, cha-cha slide, cupid shuffle, and even a polda! It completely wore me out but it was all worth it. It made my hear swell with happiness seeing her smiling, laughing, and having a great time.

Sunday, the girls and I went to church together. Poor Tracy, still not feeling well, had to stay behind at home. The afternoon was filled with Alyssa practicing her flute and Trystan relaxing and playing. We went to AWANAs this evening. That is always such a blessing!

September 20-24, 2010

Monday was picture day at school and dance for Alyssa that evening. Trystan's allergies seem to be flaring up. That started last night. Tuesday thru Thursday Trystan has prgessively gotten worse and has lost her voice. Also, Wednesday night and into Thursday Alyssa has started to complain that her ears and throat are hurting. By Friday morning I had both girls at the doctor's office. Trystan was diagnosed with a sinus infection and Alyssa with some type of throat infection. Both were put on antibiotics. School had an early dismissal as well Friday. Friday afternoon I took all the kiddos into town to watch the Homecoming Parade. Boatloads of candy for them all! Friday evening Tracy started to show signs that he is getting a sinus infection/cold as well. Tracy stayed home to rest while I took the girls to Edwardsville to get outfits and shoes to wear in our family pictures that are scheduled next weekend. I was so happy to be able to find shirts, pants and shoes for the girls and shirt and pants for myself. Thank goodness that's finished! Ready to start our busy weekend. :)

September 18-19, 2010

Saturday morning I took the girls for lunch at McDonald's, then it was off to Highland for haircuts. Alyssa is wanting to grow her hair out long again, so she got her hair trimmed. Trystan also got a trim. We had her hair trimmed to even all her hair out as it is continuing to grow back in. This was Trystan first haircut in well over a year. I believe her last haircut was in February or March of 2009. Just before she was diagnosed. She was so excited! I had tears in my eyes as I watched her be able to have her first haircut. It was almost like watching your baby have her very first haircut. That is the closest thing that I can compare the feeling to. After haircuts we headed to Alhambra Fireman's Park for Sarah's bridal shower. We arrived a little early so this allowed time for the girls to swing and play at the park. I think they had a pretty good day!

Sunday we all went to church together and spent the afternoon together as well. Later in the evening we took the girls to AWANAs. The theme for AWANAs was "Crazy Hair!" Alyssa wore her hair in two uneven pig tails that were all frizzed out and Trystan wore hers spiked out and crazy! They had a blast! We feel so blessed to be able to participate in AWANAs again. Trystan told me that Sunday's are now her favorite day of the week because she gets to go to Sunday School/Church and AWANAs all in the same day! :D

September 13-17, 2010

With Trystan back in school, I've decided to post weekly instead of daily. Unless, of course, something important like scans or anything else happens. Alyssa is excelling wonderfully in school and still seems to really love school. Trystan enjoys school as well, but struggles with certain subjects, especially reading. The school tests all the kids for accellerated reader program. Trystan reads at a level of a first grader in the third month of school. Figuring up as to how old she is, she is exactly nine months behind where she should be. Trystan's fight with cancer was nine months. Maybe it's a co-incidence, but we don't think so. She does seem to be doing better all the time with reading. The more she's in school, hopefully the better it will get. She gets frustrated very easily because of her struggle to read. Please pray for patience for not only mom and dad but for Trystan as well. Also, pray that Trystan will continue to accell . God bless you all! Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

September 12, 2010

Went to church this morning. Right after church we came home and ate a quick lunch. As soon as we were finished with lunch the girls and I got in the car and went to pick up Grandma Rieke. The four of us went to Fairview Heights. I took the girls there for a "Spa Day." They each got a manicure and pedicure. They loved it! I really enjoyed watching them! This is the place that my mom goes every other week to have her nails done. The owner was so sweet. She's been keeping up with Trystan's progress from the very beginning thru my mom. She wanted to give Trystan her mani and pedi for nothing! It never ceases to surprise me at the generosity of people whom we don't even know! THANK YOU!!! Meanwhile, while the girls were having their spa day, Tracy was home preparing the pool for winter. He also had to take the camper in to have it looked at by MidStates.

After the girls' surprise it was time for supper and the first night of AWANAs. I am so excited, as are the kids, to be able to attend AWANAs this year. We had to take the year off last year, due to Trystan being in and out of the hospital. The only thing Trystan is uable to participate in is games. She was upset at first not being able to do it. But, I found something else for her to do while the others were in games. Thank you God for your continued blessings!

September 11, 2010

This morning the girls and I ran a sample of water to the pool store in Vandalia. Looks like we'll be closing the pool tomorrow. We've only swam in the pool maybe twice since school. The water is now way to cold to enjoy. This afternoon, the girls and I, cleaned both their rooms and the toy room upstairs. They did an excellent job at helping! Have a surprise for them tomorrow.

September 10, 2010

Girls got up pretty good this morning for school. After school they played for a while. We then met my mom and dad at the winery in Carlyle to take my dad out to dinner for his birthday. The food was really good! We will deffinately go back. Trystan had tummy problems after school and then again after dinner. Not sure exactly why, hopefully it isn't the stomach flu! Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

September 9, 2010

We are so proud of our girls! They both have studied very hard this week for their spelling tests. Trystan really struggled with the words this week. But, I am happy to report that both received 100% on their tests! Way to go girls!!

This evening we dropped Alyssa off at dance and Trystan and I did grocery shopping. Much needed grocery shopping, I might add. :)

Please pray for Jazmine, Trystan's penpal from England. The end is drawing near and she is suffering a lot of pain. Pain medicines aren't helping anymore. Also remember her mom and little sister in your prayers. Thank you.

September 8, 2010

Nothing much to report today. We thank God everyday for these boring "uneventful" days!

September 7, 2010

It was back to school today for the girls after a three day weekend. They were not too thrilled to have to get up "early" for school. :) Trystan was supposed to bring an insect to school. We caught a large grasshopper just before having to leave for school. She was excited to have a bug to take with her. I think they both had a pretty good day at school.

September 6, 2010

Woke up this morning and Tracy got to working outside the camper packing things up while I worked inside cleaning and putting things away. We finally got home between 3 and 4 p.m. As soon as we got home, Alyssa and I worked on unloading the camper. Tracy started mowing right away. Once the camper was unloaded and everything put away, the girls went upstairs to play and I worked on cleaning the house. Tracy did get the mowing finished and the dogs taken care of before dark. Gotta love these busy days!

Thank you God for a beautiful, enjoyable family weekend!

September 5, 2010

Today we took the girls to both of the campground playgrounds. The first one just had swings. Both of our girls love to swing! Spent a while there pushing them. Once they were finished there we went to the other park. That one had tire swings and a slide. I guess I had them spinning a little too much as they all got to having stomach aches! The rest of the day was spent relaxing while the girls played together.

September 4, 2010

Had to run the furnace in the camper overnight because it got pretty cool overnight. But, the rest of the day we were able to have the camper windows open. The girls spent their day digging in the dirt and playing with Cade. The weather was absolutely wonderful during the day today. This evening was actually a little chilly, but we were able to enjoy sitting around the campfire! We'll deffinately need to run the furnace tonight.

September 3, 2010

After dropping the kids off at school, I spent the day packing the camper. Finished up in time to leave to pick up the kids from school. We left about dinnertime and arrived at Lone Point in Shelbyville Lake and had to set up camp in the dark. We did pretty good though. Thank goodness! Looking forward to the weekend camping. It's gonna be a really nice one!

September 2, 2010

Had an interesting morning. It was raining when I took the girls in to school this morning. Of course right as we are pulling into the parking lot it decides to start pouring! Here I am trying to get the wheelchair out and Trystan into it without getting us and the chair soaked. I must say I didn't do too badly. Pretty proud of myself. Left the school and came home to get the laundry finished, attempted to clean out the pool, eat lunch, and begin loading the camper. After all of this is was already time to pick up the kids from school! Brought them home, did homework, and left again to take Alyssa to dance. Home by 7:00 p.m., ate dinner, showers, and girls to bed! Whew! What a busy day! Not going to complain about it one bit though. We're loving that our lives are getting back to "normal".

September 1, 2010

Dropped Alyssa off at school this morning and headed with Trystan down to St. Louis. We had a 9:30 a.m. appointment with Dr. McDonald to check on her hairline fracture. We first had to take her to have x-rays done on her right tibia. After the x-rays were finished we went into the doctor's office and were called right back to a room. We waited in the room for about 15 minutes for the doctor. He told us that the fracture looks to be healing and she is to continue the non-weight bearing on her right leg for another six weeks. We are happy and praising God for the littlest of good news! Trystan was even happy to hear that the bone was healing and didn't get too upset when the doctor told her no weight. Bless her heart! We left the doctor's office and dropped Tracy off at home. I then took Trystan into town to school. I dropped her off there at noon, she was still able to get a 1/2 day of school in.

Other good news that happened today. Our friend Grace Hassard had an MRI done today and they were given the "all clear." God is so good! She is also half way finished with her chemo treatments. Way to go Gracie! The Watson's are continuing to pray for you!!

August 31, 2010

After I dropped the girls off at school, I went and picked up my mom to run to Kohl's. We really needed a new sheet set. Just my luck! They had sheet sets buy one get one free!! Whoo hoo!!! Then headed straight back to Greenville to volunteer at the school. Volunteered from noon until 3 o'clock. Then brought the kids home from school, did homework, and they played for a short while. We then had to run back into town for a 6:00 appointment for Alyssa to try different instruments. She tried playing the clairanet, sax, flute, trumpet, and trombone. She was able to make a sound with all of them! Ultimately she ended up signing up for the flute. We came home and ate dinner. After dinner Alyssa asked if I would work with her on playing the flute. She did really very well. We're both so proud of her and know that Grandpa Watson would be very proud of her as well. She's wanting to be a band teacher when she grows up, following in her Grandpa's footsteps.

We have an appointment tomorrow morning with Trystan's surgeon. He'll be doing more x-rays to see if the break is healing or if it's gotten worse. Please pray for a good report.

Monday, August 30, 2010

August 30, 2010

Took and picked up the girls from school today. School still seems to be going pretty well for both of them. Thanking God for the continued blessings He gives us.

Sunday, August 29, 2010

August 29, 2010

Started off the morning well. Girls were up and ready to go to church. We went to McDonald's drive-thru for breakfast on the way to church. We were almost to Alhambra when Alyssa yelled in the backseat that Trystan was gagging and looked like she was going to throw up. I grabbed the McDonald's bag, which was full of trash, and handed it to Trystan in the backseat. She had gagged on some phlem and then did get sick a little. Tracy pulled over and I got her out of the truck. She was fine after that. We went ahead and went to church because she said she was fine. Trystan was asked to talk to the other kids in Children's Church about her cancer experiences. I went down to Children's church with her to record her speaking to the other kids. She did an awesome job! We are so proud of her! Way to go Trystan!!!

After church we came home and ate lunch. The girls continued to play throughout the day and I cleaned house. I was happy with how much I was able to get accomplished today.

Saturday, August 28, 2010

August 28, 2010

The girls woke up this morning and right away were playing. Thankfully they were quiet enough that Tracy and I could sleep just a little longer. I wasn't able to do too much today because I still wasn't feeling quite well. This evening we went to Toby's sixth birthday party. The four of us went and everything was going well until Trystan wanted to play in the basement with the other children. When she came back up I noticed some splotches on her arms. I immediately gave her a benedryl and she wanted to go outside for some fresh air. That was when her eyes and throat began to itch. It was then that we decided to go ahead and leave. When we got home I put her right into the bathtub to get any dog dander that she may have had on her body off. The entire time she was struggling to stay awake from the benedryl. Pretty much right after she was finished with her bath, she fell asleep for the evening.

August 27, 2010

Went to bed last night feeling like I was coming down with the same cold that Trystan has. Yep! All through the night, I couldn't breathe and it's in full force today. Praying that Tracy and Alyssa don't get it.

The girls were glad that it's Friday. No homework tonight and no school tomorrow! Yippy!!!

August 26, 2010

I think the girls are glad to be back to school. Except of course having to get up early! Homework has started coming and studying for their first tests as well. I am so happy though that we are back in a "normal" schedule. Especially not having to run back and forth to St. Louis for chemo treatments and blood transfusions, as well as, running three times a week to Maryville for blood work. We are so thankful for God healing Trystan!

August 25, 2010

When I picked up the girls at school today Trystan told me that she had an AWESOME day. While the other kids in her class had to go to P.E. she got to go to Miss Gramlich's first grade class and help out. She was there to listen and help them read. It sure made her feel big and special. :) Trystan's cold seems a little bit better today, but now she is starting to cough. I hope that it doesn't go into a full blown cough!

Monday, August 23, 2010

August 24, 2010

Trystan was much better this morning when she woke up. She is still very much congested but her nose isn't running anymore. The girls seemed to have had a pretty good day at school. Being back in a routine is really great! One thing they don't like about the routing is getting up and going to bed early. But that is just any kid! :)

August 23, 2010

Through the night last night, Trystan wasn't able to sleep due to a runny nose and congestion. She woke up this morning still feeling a little puny and very tired. No fever so she went to school. Took the girls in to school this morning and came home to clean house. Just after lunchtime we got a call from the nurse at school. She told us that Trystan's been up in her office for about a half an hour with a tummy ache. No fever, vomitting or diarreah though. I decided to go ahead in and pick her up. By the time I got into town to the school, she seemed to be feeling better and decided to stay. So I was off, back to the house to finish cleaning the house and laundry. Was only home about an hour when it was time to go back into town to pick up the kiddos. When we got home, the girls did their homework, and then played for a while. Then it was time for Alyssa and I to go back into town for a meeting to sign her up for band. Came home, ate dinner, watched a little tv, and it was time for bed. A busy day, but not complaining. Much better than the position we were in last year at this time. We daily thank God for her showers of blessings.

August 22, 2010

Went to church this morning. Alyssa is feeling much better and her fever blisters are looking a lot better. After church we went to lunch with Tracy's mom and Tim's family at Kahuna's again. It wasn't as good today as it was last night. :( But the girls still enjoyed it. :) This evening we decided to go for a dip in the pool. We haven't been able to use it quite as much since Alyssa's been so sick, but we were excited to be able to do it tonight. After we were finished swimming the girls went up and took their baths/showers and went to bed. Full days of school start tomorrow!

Saturday, August 21, 2010

August 21, 2010

The girls played the Wii this morning. After lunch they played with their baby dolls along with all of the baby stuff Tracy got out of the attic closet. The girls were excited because I made the chocolate chip cookie brownies. One of their favorites! This evening we went to Grantfork Homecoming to watch the parade. The girls got a ton of candy! We didn't stay after the parade for supper. We decided to go and try Kahuna's in Greenville. The girls loved it!

Friday, August 20, 2010

August 20, 2010

Today was the first day the kids had to go to school until 2 p.m. When I picked the girls up from school they were excited to tell me that they had a great day at school! Makes me feel a whole lot more comfortable. Hoping that next week will be as good as the first two days of school. :) Alyssa seems to be feeling much better today. Not quite as puny and has much better color. Thank you Lord for the wonderful day today!

Thursday, August 19, 2010

August 19, 2010

Today was the first day of school! The girls woke up pretty easily this morning. By the time we pulled up and parked the car in the parking lot, they were both complaining their bellies were hurting. I'm pretty sure it was just nerves. School let out at 11:00 this morning. After picking them up at school, I took them to the park for a picnic. We didn't stay at the park very long due to the heat. All and all another pretty good day.

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

August 18, 2010

For breakfast Alyssa was able to eat a piece of toast and drink a little. At lunchtime she ate some crakers and drank a little. But by this afternoon she was doing much better. She decided she felt well enough to go to the Back-to-School Carnival to take her things in to her classroom and meet her teacher. Alyssa did pretty good and even ate a little supper. Trystan used her walker and tired very quickly. I ended up having to go out and get her chair. But for the most part a pretty good evening. Looking forward to taking my kiddos to their first day of school tomorrow! :0)

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

August 17, 2010

Alyssa woke up still not feeling well. :( She's not thrown up today but cannot stay out of the bathroom. We've tried very hard to get her to eat and drink today. Unfortunately it hasn't been very successful! Hoping tomorrow brings a change.

Monday, August 16, 2010

August 16, 2010

Alyssa woke up this morning feeling really cruddy. She wouldn't eat anything and complained of abdominal pain. Sometimes screaming and crying in pain. I gave her her antibiotic and something to drink. About an hour to an hour and a half later she vomitted. Her fever seems to be back and higher than last week. I called the doctor's office about 11 a.m. and they couldn't get her in until 2:30 p.m. When I called they still didn't have the results of her culture.

We arrived at the doctor's office and Alyssa couldn't get out of the car. I went in and signed her in and when I came back out to the car she was getting sick in the car. When they were ready for her, the doctor's office came out and got her with a wheelchair. The nurse took her temp and it was all the way up to 103.2 and her heart rate was up too! A little scary!! The nurse also told me that her throat culture came back negative. That was good news! When the doctor came in she said that it looks and sounds like a virus. Have her to take a sip of gatorade every 1/2 hour and if she doesn't eat anything today it's ok. She also said that if she isn't any better tomorrow to give them a call.

When we got home from the doctor's office, Tracy had to come out to the car to carry her in. I've never seen her so weak before! I also re-read the side effects of the antibiotics she was on and they were abdominal pain, nausea/vomitting, fever, etc. Wondering if she is allergic that? The side effects also sound alot like a stomach virus. Hmmm. I guess we'll never know if it is a virus or a reaction.

Please pray that whatever this is would subside and she would be well enough to go to the back to school carnival wednesday night and begin school on thursday.

Sunday, August 15, 2010

August 15, 2010

Went to church this morning as a family. During church Alyssa had some stomach pains still. Spent the afternoon here at home. Still on an off Alyssa had abdominal pain. This evening we went to Carrie's house for Kortnie and Derrick's birthdays. Had dinner, cake and ice cream. Yummy! Alyssa seems to be feeling a little bit better everyday. We should find out tomorrow what the results of the culture are that they did Friday in the doctor's office.

Saturday, August 14, 2010

August 14, 2010

This morning Alyssa woke up feeling really good. She even ate breakfast. It was a little bit of a challenge to get her to take the antibiotic that the doctor prescribed. But, eventually she gave in and took it. All that it took was a little reminder of all the medications Trystan had to take orally over the past year and a half. Throughout the day Alyssa would get stomach pains. But the pains didn't last long. This afternoon we had a wedding to go to at church. Just after the ceremony, Trystan lost her balance and fell. Her leg was hurting for a little while after that, but seemed to be fine later.

Friday, August 13, 2010

August 13, 2010

This morning Alyssa woke up now with a sore throat. Wasn't sure if she just has a virus, strep throat, or sinus infection. So, as soon as the doctor's office opened, I called to try to get her an appointment. We got her an appointment for 11:00 a.m. The doctor looked Alyssa over and did a quick strep test. The quick test came back negative. Doctor wasn't happy with that so she sent it over for a culture at the hospital. In the mean time they are going to put her on an antibiotic and if the culture comes back positive she'll already have a few days of medicine in her. If the culture comes back negative we will just stop it, no harm done. Should get the results back sometime Monday afternoon. Hoping Alyssa sleeps well tonight and wakes up in the morning feeling better.

Thursday, August 12, 2010

August 12, 2010

This morning Alyssa woke up still sick. :( She didn't eat much today and just laid around on the couch all day. Poor thing!

I finally got Trystan's sewing machine together and working. Trystan was so excited! She made two pillowcases and is planning on sending one of them to Jazmine and the other to Gracie. Both are girls that are fighting cancer. Jazmine lives in England and Gracie here in Illinois. She's super excited about sending them to the girls. The rest of the day I spent cleaning the house.

This afternoon Tracy began to not feel well with the same symptoms as Alyssa. Hope he's not getting it as well.

Trystan has continued to complain about pain in her leg. Praying that it's nothing. I called down to Dr. McDonald's office this morning to ask what they thought about it and if he thought she needed to be seen or x-rays, etc. Kelly, Dr. McDonald's nurse, called about 12:30 p.m. after asking many questions and talking it over with the doctor, the consesus was to have us bring Trystan in for x-rays and evaluation. Our appointment was a 3 p.m. We left the house about 1:30 p.m. and arrived about 2:45 p.m. for x-rays. After x-rays we went over to see Dr. McDonald. We were called back to the room about 3:45 p.m. Dr. McDonald had to break the news to us that Trystan has a hairline fracture in the bone that was put in. He told us she is to be non-weight bearing on her right leg once more. She either needs to use her wheelchair or walker/crutches. Trystan is devistated with the news of not being able to walk again. We keep try to tell her the positivies of it: no surgery needed and no cast either. Right now it isn't making any difference to her. She'll have to start school not walking. :(

On the way down to see the doctor, Alyssa began to complain that she had a headache. The headache continued the entire time we were at the doctor's office and all the way home. By the time we got home she had a fever and was feeling sick to her stomach. She went to bed still not feeling well. Hoping tomorrow she feels better.

August 10, 2010

We started off the morning by going up to the school to register. When we finished registering we went and picked up my mom and ran to Alton. We had to go to Alton to take my flute in to be worked on. Alyssa wants to play the flute so it has to be fixed in order to use it. The man at Halpin that'll be working on the flute said it should be finished by Saturday! I couldn't believe how fast it would be done. The girls, my mom, and myself met Carrie and Kortnie in Highland and all went to the Highland public pool together. I pretty sure they had a good time! BOY was it hot today! The girls and I came home after swimming in just enough time to change and go to the Bond County Fair parade. Tracy and the girls rode with Tim and Cade in the parade. They were so excited to be in the parade and throw candy! Tracy said that Trystan would throw the candy out and tell people to enjoy the fair. :) My mom, Lori, and myself watched the parade. It was so hot outside for the parade.

August 9, 2010

Woke up early this morning and headed out the door to Children's for Trystan's scans. Had to take a minor detour due to two different accidents that closed down interstate 70. We thankfully made it on time. She had her CT Scan at about 8:45 and her bloodwork and injection for her bone scan at 9 a.m. We were told to be back by 11 a.m. for her scan. We ran up to the 9th floor to drop off her viles and tell them that we would be late for her doctor appointment because her scan was pushed back to 11 a.m. We went out to the garden and then down to the cafeteria to waste some time. Got back to radiology about 10:45 a.m. and were called back just before 11 a.m. Trystan did awesome for her bone scan. She laid so still! We are super proud of her. We then headed back up to the 9th floor for her doctor's appointment. The doctor told us that the CT scan of her chest looked great and her bloodwork was good as well! The bone scan wasn't out there yet for viewing so we left there without knowing the results of the bone scan. We were told that they would call us later with the results. They also told us that they think her leg pain may just be from not walking for almost a year and now doing so much too quickly. The doctor called finally at 5:30 p.m. He let Tracy know that the bone scan was clear!! Praise the Lord! More answered prayers!!

August 8, 2010

This morning we got things together and cleaned/picked up the camper to come home. Trystan has complained off and on today about her leg hurting. Tomorrow Trystan has her three month scans tomorrow. We are praying for clear scans.

Made it home safely from our camping trip! Amen.

August 7, 2010

Today it has been one year since Trystan had her first surgery. She has begun to complain of leg pain today. We are a little concerned but hoping that it's just muscle pain or something minor. Other than this the camping trip so far has been going well. The kids were a little disappointed that there wasn't a swimming pool or playground to play on. But, they did an excellent job of using their imaginations and keeping busy playing. Going home tomorrow.

August 6, 2010

This morning I finished packing to go camping. Before we left, Tracy went out to cut the grass. While he was moving the wooden platform for the pool, one of the screws pierced his fore arm. We cleaned it up right away and covered it. He went ahead and finished the yard. We left about dinnertime to camp. Arrived in Missouri on the campsite and were set up just before dark. We all were at Tim's campsite enjoying each other company when a conservation officer came and told Tim that he couldn't use his bug zapper because you aren't allowed to kill mosquitos. Because the mosquitos feed the bats. Can you believe that? He agreed and turned it off. After the officer left we all laughed about how rediculous it was.

August 5, 2010

This morning we had yet another doctor's appointment. This one was Trystan's allergist at Cardinal Glennon. My mom came with us. She stayed in the waiting room with Alyssa while Trystan and I were back for her appointment. We won't have the results of her bloodwork until next week sometime. They are just checking on the peanut allergy this time. He said that she may be one of the few kids that actually outgrow a peanut allergy. Over the past three years her levels have decreased on peanuts. This is another praise! After her bloodwork we headed to Highland Pool because Grandma had some free passes to swim. The girls were super excited to go. Alyssa jumed off the diving board almost the entire time we were there and Trystan was going under water! Another milestone. Next step is to get Trystan to swim underwater. Baby steps. It will come with time.

August 4, 2010

This morning Trystan's friend Olivia came over to play for a little while. Not only did they play but they went into the pool and swam for a bit. After lunch we dropped Olivia off and headed for another doctor's visit but for both girls. They had to see the dentist. Got a great report of "no cavities" on both girls! Woot! Woot! It's the "littlest" things that make us happy these days! :)

August 3, 2010

Today we hung out at home. It was just too hot to do anything. The only reason we left the house was to go to physical therapy. On the way there my car said that it was 106 outside! HOT!!! Trystan did pretty well at pt today. She did have one small melt down because she felt that what they were asking her to do was too hard, but soon got over it. :) Came home from pt and the girls swam with daddy. Praising and thanking God everyday for our cancer-free, walking miracle!

August 2, 2010

We went to the zoo today! Alyssa brought Shelbi and Trystan brought Olivia. I think the four girls had a really good time. They got to see a ton of animals and touch the sting rays. It was hot but not quite as hot as I thought it was going to be. The zoo had different areas where they had misting fans and other water type stations to cool off. All in all a really good day!

August 1, 2010

This morning Tracy and I got up, ate breakfast, and headed to church. We were so glad to be able to see the girls. I think they had a good time at Grandma's house! Came home after church and went swimming. Ended the evening by eating dinner at the Huddle House here in Greenville. Another day to be thankful for!

July 31, 2010

Today was the Rieke Family Reunion in Breese at the park. We arrived a little after 12:00. We ate lunch and visited. While we were there, the girls played on the playground equipment. Trystan was able to climb on the equipment and slide down the slide. All by herself! She was so excited to be able to do all of this on her own. They also had swings, one of Trystan's favorite things to do. We were there approximately 3 1/2 hours and she was on the swings about 2-2 1/2 hours! After getting home from the reunion, the girls took their bath/shower and then Grandma Watson came by and picked them up. Alyssa, Trystan, Cade, and Grandma had a sleepover! The girls were so excited to be able to do something special with Grandma. Tracy and I went out to dinner at Outback Steakhouse in Fairview. It was nice to be able to spend time just the two of us. We sure do miss our girls when they're away.

July 30, 2010

Today the girls and Kortnie played together all day. This morning the three girls and I went swimming. It wasn't real hot out so the pool felt chilly. We came in from swimming and ate lunch. After lunch the girls played together some more. Late this afternoon, Kortnie and Alyssa continued playing and Trystan came in the living room and took a little nap. When she finally woke up she was crying. She was crying and complaining her ear was hurting. But by the end of the evening she had quit complaining about it all together. Here's to hoping it's nothing! All in all it was a nice relaxing day.

July 29, 2010

This morning we woke up and I decided that the girls and I would go do some much needed grocery shopping. Left the house at about 11 a.m. and didn't get back from Wal-Mart until almost 2 p.m! Alyssa pushed Trystan in ther wheelchair thru Wal-Mart while I pushed the cart. We have a pretty good system going. :) We came home and unloaded the car and put away all of the groceries. Then we went outside and swam for a bit. My mom then called and told us she went by and picked up the messenger bag that was left at the store yesterday. So, Alyssa and I ran to her house to pick it up from her. We then came home and relaxed before it was finally time for bed. :)

July 28, 2010

This morning I asked the girls which they would like to do, swim or go school shopping. They both said they would like to go school shopping. So after we ate lunch we left for Highland Wal-Mart. I got all of their school supplies there except a couple of things. I then drove them to Fairview Heights to a couple of stores there. We really did pretty well with deals! I was pretty happy about that! However, when we got home I realized that Alyssa's messenger bag she picked out wasn't in bag with the other items I has bought. I looked at the receipt and I wasn't charged for it either. Needless to say I wasn't happy that it wasn't in there! After dinner the girls wanted to swim. The four of us headed out to the pool for about an hour together. When we came back into the house the phone rang and it was the store telling me that they failed to put the messenger in the bag and that they were putting it back with my name on it. Thankfully my mom works in Fairview so she will be able to run by and pick it up for me. That made Alyssa happy to be able to get the messenger that she really wanted!

July 27, 2010

Today was a busy, busy day. We had to run to the pool store in Vandalia this morning to have the pool water tested. After we were finished in Vandalia, we had to come home and I added the necessary chemicals to the pool. Just enough time to get back into the car and rush to St. Louis for Trystan's physical therapy appointment. Trystan did pretty good at her physical therapy appointment. This was her first appointment since the doctor gave the orders that she could walk without her walker. They had her doing some new exercises and new activities like waking stairs, etc. It really wore her out and her knees were achey. Her homework from the therapist is to practice using the stairs like she showed her. That shouldn't be a problem since we have quite a few stairs in our house! :)

July 26, 2010

This morning we picked up around the house. The girls and I then ran into town to fill the car with gas and return the last of the dvds we rented earlier in the week. We returned home and ate lunch. After lunch, Alyssa's friend Logan came over to swim for a couple of hours. Alyssa and Logan had a BLAST in the pool together. Trystan is really taking off with swimming and getting a little braver everyday. Another blessed day the Lord has given us.

July 25, 2010

This morning we went to church together as a family. I love that we are able to go every week again. Had lunch after church with Tracy's mom. After lunch we came home and went swimming. My sister came down and swam with us. We came in and ate supper. Carrie stayed for supper as well. Was a great end to a wonderful weekend! Thank you God.

Saturday, July 24, 2010

July 24, 2010

This morning Tracy went out to cut the grass and had a flat on the small mower. So, the girls and I ran it into town to be fixed and drop off a couple of movies we rented. Once we were home from town, the girls played together for a while then we went out to swim in the pool. Trystan did a great job in the pool today. She swam from one end of the pool to the other all by herself! This was the first time she has ever done that. We came back into the house to get ready for dinner. We went out for dinner to a restaurant in Effingham with Tim, Lori, and Cade. We had a nice time with them! Great day!!!

Friday, July 23, 2010

July 23, 2010

Since the girls were up and out so late last night, Trystan slept in until well after 9:30 this morning! Extremely late for a child that very rarely stays up past 9:00 p.m. After cleaning this morning, Alyssa and I went swimming together. Tracy and Trystan ran to the bank together. Once they got back they got in the pool with us. The four of us swam until supper time. After dinner we watched a family movie together. Today was a great family day!

July 22, 2010

Today was the last day of Art Camp for Trystan. When we arrived there she said she was a little nervous about walking in without her walker. But she did so good and walked right in. Right away a few of the kids noticed and came right up to her and commented about her walking without her walker. I think that made her feel really good! She also got to bring home all of the things she made throughout both weeks and was very excited to show us what she had done. After Art Camp we came home and changed clothes and we went over to Cade's house to swim. The girls wanted to stay to play and for dinner, so I came home and made supper for Tracy and I and we watched a movie together. Once the movie was over I went back over to pick up the girls and bring them home. They had a great time playing with Cade. Love the gifts God has given us!

July 21, 2010

Today we had an appointment this afternoon with Trystan's surgeon, Dr. McDonald. Trystan had to miss Art Camp this afternoon since it was at the same time as her appointment. We arrived at the doctor's office at 2:00 and they sent us over for x-rays as they always do. We finished with her x-rays quite quickly, but then had to wait for the doctor as he was over an hour behind! Thank goodness for DSs! They saved the day today. The wait was well worth the news we received from the doctor. He showed us the x-rays, which looked great! Showed us all of the bone growth on her leg. He told Trystan that she could begin walking without her walker. She does have restrictions though. No running, jumping, kicking balls, skipping etc. At least not at this time. She was so super excited to hear this! We will continue some physical therapy as she still is walking with a limp. But that's ok. It'll all come with time, baby steps to get there, but we'll get there. Praise the Lord for answered prayers. God is so good!!!

July 20, 2010

Day six of eight finished of Art Camp for Trystan. She seems to be loving it more every day! Seems to be money well spent. After camp Alyssa, Trystan, and myself headed to St. Louis for physical therapy at Children's Hospital. When I parked the car in the parking garage, I asked Trystan if she wanted to ride up in her wheelchair or if she wanted to try to walk it. She said, "If you can do it, then so can I!" So we headed up without her wheelchair. She did awesome! She walked up with her walker from the parking garage to physical therapy. After physical therapy was over, she asked if we could go out to the garden on the roof. The three of us then walked up to the garden and looked around. It brought back many memories when we spent so many days there in the past year. The Olson Garden was one of the favorite places Trystan and Alyssa both enjoyed while staying at the hospital for chemotherapy. When we were finished in the garden we headed back down to the car. Trystan walked the entire time with her walker and never complained! Not once! We are all super proud of her. We love to see how she continues to get stronger, day-by-day. Daily we thank God for the continued blessings He gives. Tomorrow we have an afternoon appointment with Dr. McDonald. Please pray for a good report from the doctor.

July 19, 2010

Today was day five of eight for Trystan's Art Camp. She really seems to be enjoying it. While Trystan was at camp Alyssa and I went to the movie store to rent a couple of movies. After camp we came home and I made dinner. After dinner Tracy took the girls out for a short dip in the pool. Sometime while Tracy was outside he was bitten by something on both his forehead and nose which left large welts on both. Late this evening before going to bed, his eyes also began to swell. He took some benedryl and we headed to bed. Hoping that it was gone by morning.

July 18, 2010

Was an extremely busy day today! We woke up this morning and went to church. After church we headed to Teri's house to celebrate Trenton and Grandma Watson's birthdays. We ate lunch there with everyone. Once lunch was finished we watched Trent and Grandma open their gifts then Alyssa and I went to Kirby's house for Isaac's birthday. I think Isaac liked his gift, as he got it out and played with it right away! That always makes me happy to see kiddos wanting to play with their gifts right away! Then Alyssa and I went back to Teri's to pick up Tracy and Trystan to come home. We got home about 4:30 p.m. just to relax for a bit. Then it was back in the car to go back to church for a meeting. I'm getting worn out just typing out everything we did today!

July 17, 2010

This morning we slept in a little. Once we were up and ready to go, we went and checked out of the hotel and went down the road to Lambert's. We ate our lunch at Lambert's then it was time to hit the road and head home. We arrived home around 3:15 p.m. We didn't stay home long, as we needed to run to Wal-Mart for birthday cards and gifts. It'll be a busy day tomorrow!

Friday, July 16, 2010

July 16, 2010

This morning Kortnie came over for a while. The girls swam for a while this morning. Then we took Grandma Watson and we all piled in the car and left for Sikeston, MO for Grandma's birthday. The girls were so excited to go to Taco Johns! We arrived in Sikeston at about 6:30 p.m. and ate supper at Taco John's. Alyssa and Trystan were a little upset that their friend Sonny wasn't there. But, they still enjoyed their food! After eating we went to the hotel and got our swimsuits on and went swimming. By the time we were finished swimming and got changed it was 10:30 p.m. Time for bed!

July 15, 2010

Today was day four of eight of Art Camp. I really do think that Trystan is enjoying camp. They've done a little of everything; drawing, coloring, gluing, painting, sculpting, etc. She has the day off tomorrow and will go back to camp on Monday. This evening the girls and I swam, then came in for dinner. After dinner the girls made homemade bird feeders. The only materials they used were a 2 liter bottle, shoe strings, and bird seed. We then took them outside to hang them up. Now, to wait and see if any birds will enjoy the feeders!

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

July 14, 2010

This morning Kortnie came over and the girls watched tv and played. By 9:30 we headed outside to the pool for a little while before having to eat lunch and take Trystan to art camp. Trystan had day three of eight at art camp. While Trystan was at camp, Alyssa and I had to run to the pool to fill out paperwork in order for me to get my money back from not being able to have the girls' pool party. We also ran a few other errands while we waited. When Art Camp was over we came home and Kortnie and Alyssa headed back out to the pool for some more swimming. They swam for about an hour and a half until Carrie got here to pick up Kortnie. Think they had a pretty good time today. This evening we met all of Trystan's friends in the parking lot of the Greenville Bowling Alley and I took them all to Highland to Pizza Hut for pizza. The girls all had a blast! I think they enjoyed being in the car there and back the best. Listening to the music (loudly) and sining and dancing along!

July 13, 2010

Today was an extremely busy day. This morning I started by calling the park district to see if I can get my money back. We then headed for Vandalia with a water sample. While we were in Vandalia I got a call from the public pool letting me know that I will in fact get my money back, but the check won't be available until August sometime. I didn't care that it would be a month until I get my money back, just happy that I'm getting it all back! We then came home so that I could add the proper chemicals to the pool just before having to take Trystan to Art Camp. After Art Camp was over we then had to head to St. Louis Children's Hospital for Trystan's Physical Therapy. She did awesome! They had her do some exercises and then she rode the physical therapy bike. The therapist had her ride it around the floor. Then she had Trystan ride the pt bike onto the elevator and down to the 2nd floor. She rode it all around the 2nd floor then back onto the elevator up to the 4th floor. She finished and we came home. It has been an extremely busy day with a lot of running, but no complaints from us! We are very happy to be able to go and do all of these things.

July 12, 2010

Today Trystan started Art Camp. All morning Trystan was telling me that she was nervous and a little scared about camp. We ate lunch and left for camp. We arrived at the camp about 15 minutes early to find out that the person that was supposed to unlock the building for the camp "dropped the ball!" They finally got someone with a key to unlock the door about 1:20 p.m. The Art Camp was to start at 1:00 p.m. While Trystan was at camp Alyssa, Kortnie, and I ran some errands. One of the errands we ran was up to the public pool to reschedule the girls' pool party. Got it rescheduled for Wednesday evening. I quickly started sending messages and making calls to all of the girls' families to tell them the new party date. We then went back to pick Trystan up. Wasn't sure if she like the camp or not. She was a little upset because she said she worked slower than everyone else and was last to finish everything. Other than that one thing she had no bad comments about the rest of the camp.

After supper, we decided to take a dip in the pool. We swam for about an hour. When we came back into the house there was a message on the answering machine with a problem with our party. I called the pool right away only to find out that we are unable to have our party because they are having a swim meet there Wednesday night! I was not happy at all because I had already called all of these families to tell them about the rescheduled party. They were wanting me to reschedule it yet again! I said I would rather just have my money back. The manager of the pool said she didn't think it was a problem and that I should call the main off of the park district in the morning and request to get it back. She gave me the number and the names of people I can talk to . Hoping I can get that money back so that I can do something else for their birthdays. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the morning and then I'll have to call all of these families AGAIN to tell them what's up.

Sunday, July 11, 2010

July 11, 2010

This morning the girls and I went to church together. Tracy wasn't feeling well so he stayed home to rest. Came home after church and ate lunch. The girls then played for a while upstairs. Then my sisters, myself and the girls took a dip in the pool. It poured down rain, but since there wasn't any lightening we were able to stay out in the pool. The girls thought it was pretty neat to swim in the rain especially since they love to play in the rain!

Saturday, July 10, 2010

July 10, 2010

This morning I got up and made some muffins and began cleaning house. Cleaned all morning and thru lunch. After lunch the girls and I ran to pick up Alyssa's birthday cake, IGA for last minute items, and to pick up the bbq for supper. Tracy was out mowing the lawn for the bulk of the day. Everyone came over for dinner at 6:30 tonight to help us celebrate Alyssa's 10th birthday. We had a great time with all of the family.

Friday, July 9, 2010

July 9, 2010

Today was the last day for Cheer K Camp. Alyssa was upset that it had to end. She made the comment to me that she wished it could last the rest of the summer! After Cheer K Camp ended, we went and did some banking in Highland and made a Wal-Mart run for groceries. The girls and I came home and they played while I put the groceries away. We later went outside to swim for a bit. The four of us had a really good time swimming together.

It hasn't been a "normal summer" but it's been A LOT better summer than last year! We've been able to do so much more than we were able to last year. I cannot express enough how thankful we are for everything. Especially the smallest of things. Trystan's scans are scheduled for a month from today.

Thursday, July 8, 2010

July 8, 2010

Second to last day of Cheer K Camp for Alyssa and man did it pour! The girls' friend birthday party was tonight at the public pool. We were supposed to swim from 7 to 9 but because of the thunder and rain we had to cancel. The girls were very upset about not being able to swim. But I saved the day! We took the party under the pavillion outside of the pool. They had cupcakes and juice for a snack, opened their birthday gifts, and played in the rain. All in all I think that they all had a pretty good time! We are having to reschedule the swim party. But, that's ok.

July 7, 2010

It was off to Cheer K Camp again this morning. Trystan and I had to run to Vandalia to pick up a tool for the pool. We then came back to Greenville and picked up Alyssa from camp. The girls did their activity pages this afternoon. They were a little upset since the storms came right when they wanted to go out to swim. So it was inside play for the afternoon.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

July 6, 2010

Alyssa went to Cheer K Camp this morning. While she was there, Trystan and I ran errands. After camp was over I took the girls out for lunch and came home. This afternoon they did their activity pages and swam early this evening. Sure seems like the summer is just flying by!

July 5, 2010

Our camping trip came to an end today. :( But we had a fabulous weekend. Great times with great friends and family!

This morning Tracy went outside and began breaking down things, while I was inside cleaning things up to go home. After I was finished cleaning the inside of the camper, I took the girls to the campground park while Tracy finished up. When we came back to the campsite we said our goodbyes to Keith and Anita as well as Tim, Lori, and Cade. Then it was homeward bound. Once we were home, Tracy and I unloaded the camper and put things away. By the time we were finished doing all of that we were extremely hot! We all put on our bathingsuits and headed out into the pool to cool off. We ended the day by meeting Grandma Watson and Chris at Farmers in Highland for dinner.

July 4, 2010

Happy 4th of July!

Grandma and Grandpa Rieke went for a convertable ride this morning and came to the campsite to visit us. This afternoon we went back out on the boat with everyone and had a fabulous time! We're a little sad to see the camping trip come to an end. We are going home tomorrow.

Tracy and I discussed the 4th of July last year and how Trystan wasn't able to swim in Carlyle Lake because of her port-a-cath. Trystan expressed how happy she was to be able to go on the boat and swim in the lake. Thank you God for all you continue to bless us with.

July 3, 2010

Happy Birthday Alyssa!

This morning I started out the day by making blueberry and chocolate chip muffins for breakfast. Alyssa decided she wanted me to make iced brownies for her birthday. So, I went ahead and baked those as well. Late this afternoon, we all went out on the boat with Keith, Anita, Tim, Lori and Cade. We stopped and swam in the lake for a bit. After coming back to the camper, we ate dinner, then went to Cole's Creek Dock to watch the Carlyle fireworks. We always wanted to see their fireworks. The fireworks were beautiful! But, were a little disappointed in the length of the fireworks.

I cannot believe Alyssa turned ten today! We now have a tween in our house!! =)

Friday, July 2, 2010

July 2, 2010

For lunch today we drove to Highland to meet Grandma Watson at the PBJ Festival. The girls were so excited to go. They've been asking almost every week to take them. The girls had a fabulous time. We couldn't believe all of the "free" things they had for kids to do! I hadn't been for years. Used to be just food and some type of entertainment. Now they have crafts for kids to do and crafts for sale as well. We will deffinately be going back before school starts!

Left late this afternoon for a weekend of camping. Every fourth of July we spend camping at Cole's Creek. Beautiful campgrounds not too far from home!

July 1, 2010

The girls have swam everyday except one. Trystan cannot touch in the pool, but Alyssa is so good with her in the pool. Trystan puts on her ring and off she goes with her legs and arms going! Alyssa is like a little fish, she LOVES the water! It is so wonderful to see the two of them enjoying each others company. Yes, they do fight at times, but that's what sisters do. For the most part they really get along beautifully! Thank you God for giving me this wonderful family!

June 30, 2010

Well here we are at the end of June. Can't believe how fast it's gone by. God is so good and He is always showing His love! Trystan continues to do well. Thank you to all who continue to pray for her. She seems to be getting stronger everyday. We continue to see how the pool and the walker really are strengthening her leg. She makes the statement all the time that she is so happy to be able to walk again!

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Another busy day. The girls and I ran this morning to Vandalia to have the pool water tested and then to the camper store to pick up a part. Before leaving Vandalia, we HAD to stop at Wendy's for lunch. This is one of the girls' favorite restaraunts to eat at. When we got home I went out and started to add the necessary chemicals to the pool. The girls weren't too happy to have to wait to swim today. But soon got over it when they were able to get in the pool!

This morning the girls headed down to the basement to pick up the toys. While they were doing that, I was up on the first story cleaning. After eating lunch the girls and I ran to Highland to the bank and back home. They then did their activity pages. Of course after they were finished with that they wanted to swim! The weather was so nice today. Not too hot, which made the water feel a little cooler. The girls didn't seem to mind that though. I sat most of the time on the ladder trying to stay warm! :) Thank you God for the beautiful sunshine you sent us today!

This morning the four of us went to church together. Trystan hasn't been using her wheelchair at all. The only time she's been using it is for LONG walks like Wal-Mart, etc. After church we came home and wrapped two birthday gifts then we were off to Tim's house for Cade's birthday party. We stayed there until it was time to head to the next party at Russ's house for Tyler's birthday. But, first we had to take Tracy and Trystan home becuase she cannot be there because of her allergies. They had to have the party inside because of the rain. :( She really wanted to go too, but we can't control the weather or her terrible allergies! Alyssa and I stayed for a while then headed home in a terrible storm! I would've waited a little longer had I known how bad it really was! But, God got us home safe and sound! Whew. What a busy day!

June 26, 2010

This morning the girls and I did some cleaning upstairs while Tracy was out cutting the grass. The four of us took a break to eat lunch. After lunch, Tracy headed back outside to finish cutting the grass, I headed back upstairs to finish cleaning the bathroom, and the girls played together for a while. When I was finished cleaning the bathroom the girls and I headed out for a dip in the pool. We stayed out for a quite a while and when Tracy was finished mowing he joined us as well! Fun time was had by all!!! We finished off the day by the girls making homemade pizzas for dinner. Yum!!

June 25, 2010

This morning the girls did their activity pages right away and headed for the Wii! We then headed out to get some grocery shopping done. Came home after grocery shopping, put the groceries away, and took the girls to swim. Went out at about 2:30 and then next thing we knew it was 5:30! Time sure flies when you're having fun!! We then came in for me to prepare dinner, ate showered, relaxed, and off to bed! Tracy and I cannot begin to express out thankfulness to everyone who continues to pray for Trystan. Please keep them coming as she continues to progress leaps and bounds! God Bless.

June 24, 2010

This morning the girls did their Activity Page with little to no complaints! They know the routine now. No playing until it gets done! After they were finished the two played on the Wii for a while, then it was out the door for us. Took them birthday shopping for their cousin, we then headed to SIUE. We went to see Deanna who was retiring. Both places require a TON of walking, therefore I suggested that Trystan use her wheelchair. She didn't fight me too much on it. I think she is beginning to understand her limits as to how far she is able to go. We know that will get better with time as her leg continues to get stronger.

The girls were VERY well behaved at both places! I was so proud of them. I think they were just as excited to see everyone as I was! Sure do miss the people, but not the work stress! We left SIUE and came home. Since the girls didn't get to swim this afternoon, I let them go this evening from about 6-7. The four of us swam together. Trystan finally went under water today. At the time she wasn't too happy about it, but later asked if she could do it again tomorrow. We'll see what tomorrow brings! After swimming, I cooked a late supper and we all relaxed in the livingroom together. Thank you God for the wonderful family you have given to me!

June 23, 2010

It was extremely hot today! The girls and I went swimming for a couple of hours. They had a blast! Think the water will be great therapy for Trystan's leg, as well as fun too!

This morning the girls and I picked up my mom and we headed to Glen Carbon. I had an appointment over there, so my mom came along to watch the girls while I was in for my appointment. After my appointment we headed back to Highland and went to CVS. I had coupons for free prints. When we received my prints we then left and went for lunch together. Then it was time to drop mom off and head back to Greenville. The rest of the afternoon the girls played.

Trystan did an awesome job! Everywhere we went today she used her walker instead of her wheelchair. It deffinately wore her out but she insisted everytime to use the walker. Way to go Trystan!

This morning the girls got up and played for a short while, then I had them do their activity pages. Which they absolutely love, NOT! Other than that we played some board games and ran some errands in town. We are so proud of Trystan she's walking with her walker more and more everyday. Thank you God for these little miracles you give us everyday!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TRACY!!! The girls and I love you soooo much!!!!

This morning we went to church together. Came home and the girls and I changed our clothes. We then went with my sister to see my dad. Came home and ate dinner. Another uneventful day! Just the way we like it.

June 19, 2010

Today we spent most of the day at home. Except for this afternoon when the girls and I ran into town to pick up some cards and Father's Day gifts. Early this evening Cadence came over and the three girls played together. I then took the three of them to Alhambra Homecoming Parade. I think they had a pretty good time and came home with A LOT of candy! After the parade we met Tracy in Highland at Farmer's for dinner. The girls all pretty much cleaned their plates. I guess picking up all that candy at the parade worked them a good appetite! Came home after supper and the girls continue playing where they had left off. They were all upset when Cade had to go home and can't wait til she comes back over to play!

This morning we decided to head to the St. Louis Zoo. Kortnie, Alyssa, Trystan, and myself all went to the zoo together. We arrived at the zoo about 11:00 a.m. and stayed until about 3:45 p.m. Although it was very hot outside, we had a great time. We actually saw animals that we hadn't seen at the zoo before. The chimpanzees and the organgatangs were out in their outdoor habitats. I went to take a picture of a mama and baby and the mama stuck her tounge out and then smiled at us! It was too funny!! We also saw a lot of the big cats. We were a little bummed out because we didn't get to see the baby elephant calves like we saw the last time we were there. The butterfly house was great as well. There were so many butterflies out and active when we went through. Had a wonderful day with my girls and niece!

June 17, 2010

This morning the girls did their activity books. After they were finished we were supposed to go to the St. Louis Zoo for a while before going to the Physical Therapist at Children's. BUT!!! It started to rain while they were doing their activity books, so that changed our plans. The girls were upset that they weren't able to go. Maybe tomorrow. Instead, we stayed home and ate lunch. Left a little early for her pt appointment to pick up medications, then headed for St. Louis. It was a good thing we left early too! The traffic was terrible because of road construction in more than one place. Once we were there it went fabulously! Trystan is now using both of her legs to walk and she also got to ride one of the bikes that they have in the physical therapy department. She completely lit up when she got on that bike and was able to peddle it! I was just about in tears to see her so excited and actually doing it. We are continuing to praise God for the miracles he continues to give us!

June 16, 2010

This morning the girls did their activity pages and had breakfast. After breakfast the girls and I ran to Vadalia Wal-Mart to pick up some things. Then came back home and stayed here for the rest of the afternoon. The girls played in their makeup and dressed up. Today was the first day in almost a week that it didn't rain!

June 15, 2010

This morning I had the girls do some activity pages. I had slacked the last couple of weeks on having them do one page a day. So, today was a catch up day. After they finished their pages, they wanted to play in the basement. While they were down there, I took advantage of it and got some much needed cleaning done.

June 14, 2010

This morning Kortnie came over to play with the girls for the day. The girls were so excited that she was coming that they got up extremely early to wait for her to get here! Later in the morning the three girls and I ran some errands so that Tracy could do a conference call without any interruptions. We came back from running the errands and Trystan did her leg exercises and then played the rest of the afternoon until Kort's dad came by to get her. Just after Kortnie's dad came and got her the girls and I ran to Highland to the bank. On the way it began to storm. It was raining so much that I had to pull over in Millersburg. We only had to stop for about five minutes, we were then back on our way to Highland. Came straight home after that. Stayed home for the remainder of the evening.
